Deborah, who lives in Sumas, Washington with her husband and son, received her hearing dog, Murray, in April of 2008. Murray is an eager-to-please, fun-loving Golden Retriever who is always ready to be Deborah’s “ears”. He alerts her to smoke alarms, the telephone ringing, her name being called and other important sounds. Hard of hearing since birth, Deborah actually trained her own hearing dog, an Old English Sheepdog, when she was 13 years old. She was involved in the pet business for many years, providing grooming services and managing a kennel.
