Daniel and Finnegan

Daniel broke his neck in a diving accident in 2009. He spent months in the hospital, where he was visited by 2009 graduates Eric and Titus, participants in a peer mentors program, where survivors of similar accidents visit new victims to help them learn that life can go on. Daniel wasn’t sure he had the independence to care for a dog, but the bond he observed between Eric and Titus convinced him to apply to Summit. Daniel is a student at Shoreline Community College, where Finnegan is now his well-cared-for constant companion and helpmate. He lives with his parents, his younger brother and a cat who doesn’t really like Finnegan. But Daniel says that Finnegan is so mellow, it really doesn’t matter.
