Community Outreach
Summit dogs not only assist people with disabilities - they are reaching out to others in the community as well. Read further to learn about the many win-win programs we provide.
Nursing Home Visits, Schools and Libraries
Fidalgo Care Center a long-term care assisted-living facility and San Juan Care Center are located in Anacortes, owned and operated by Jim Roe. Both these facilities offer wonderful training opportunities for our canine recruits, but of equal importance is the fact that our dogs offer the residents loving companionship upon their visits.
Summit also enriches the lives of young people by involving them. Dogs currently attend elementary schools and libraries where students get the opportunity to read to the dogs, visit, and be a part in the training of our dogs, by the dogs learning appropriate social skills and basic obedience.
This is just one more way Summit dogs are able to touch more lives.
