UNLEASHING POTENTIAL CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Support the Unleashing Potential Campaign

Building Summit’s Training Campus

In 2014, we purchased 17 acres on Whidbey Island in Washington State, thanks to a gift from a generous benefactor. More recently, we’ve entered a capital campaign to raise funds to build a state-of-the-art service dog training campus on our beautiful property. This campus is an essential component of our strategic growth plan to meet the high demand for service dogs in the Pacific Northwest.

In 2025, we reached an exciting milestone on our journey toward building a permanent home to carry out our mission. The first, and most essential building of our campus, the Canine Condo, is nearly completed! In October, we received our certificate of occupancy and have started moving dogs into their new home. The Canine Condo will allow us to house and care for up to 40 dogs, making it possible to increase the number of life-changing partnerships we can create.

With construction of our first building nearly finished, we’re now focused on outfitting the facility with the supplies and equipment needed to make it fully functional. Our team is also establishing new routines and processes to ensure the space runs smoothly and supports both our dogs and trainers effectively. This milestone represents a major step toward expanding our capacity.

As we settle into our new home, we’re already looking ahead to the next phase of our campaign, developing our Training and Administrative Center, and then our Client Lodge. These additions will bring us even closer to realizing our vision of a fully integrated campus where people and dogs can learn, grow, and thrive together. We are so grateful for the support of our generous donors and volunteers, and we look forward to continuing to share this dream with you as it becomes a reality. Our training campus will “unleash” our full potential and that of every person and dog that we serve!

Features of the Canine Condo

Canine Cantina
The Canine Cantina provides a commercial food prep room ideal for making large numbers of dog meals at once. From daily meals, to stuffing yummy Kongs, to cleaning dirty dishes, the Cantina can tackle it all.

Grady’s Spa
Grady’s Spa is designed to keep dogs clean and healthy. Bathing, grooming, nail clipping, cleaning ears, receiving health checkups - this spa can do it all! A pass-through to the laundry room allows dirty laundry to exit with ease.

Laundry Room
Summit designed the laundry room to make doing large loads of laundry a breeze. A pass-through to Grady’s Spa will allow dirty towels to come in and clean towels to go out with ease.

Standard Suite
24 dog suites encircle the Condo. Each will have access to a fenced patio and play yard, so that the dogs can enjoy the outdoors. On rainy or cold days, plenty of windows provide daylight and viewing opportunities. Suites are designed to house two dogs together to provide companionship.

Nursery Suite
The Canine Condo has three designated puppy nursery suites. These larger rooms provide extra space for litters of puppies to grow and play.

Observation Wing
Six of our suites are designated as temporary observation suites, designed to house dogs who may have a potentially contagious medical condition or who have traveled from another facility. These suites help us to prevent the transmission of disease, while still allowing for dog-human interaction.

Staff Information Center
At the Staff Information Center, staff can greet visitors, answer volunteer questions, and perform administrative duties.

Utility & Receiving Rooms
Summit worked hard to ensure that the Canine Condo is also highly functional for staff and volunteers by including large receiving rooms for easy deliveries and a quality utility room perfect for storing cleaning supplies.
