DOGS IN TRAINING
At Summit Assistance Dogs, we approach each service dog partnership with care and intention. Rather than placing dogs on a first-come, first-served basis, we focus on creating the right match by aligning each dog’s unique skills and temperament with a client’s needs. We work to make these matches as quickly as possible, and once paired, each dog is further custom-trained to support their future partner.
Below are some of the dogs currently in advanced training who will soon be ready to begin their partnerships:
Sandy
Sandy is an energetic and playful Labrador–Golden mix who brings both enthusiasm and focus to her work. She’s a highly motivated partner who loves to please and thrives on praise, food rewards, and engaging training. Sandy is skilled in tasks such as retrieving items, tugging off clothing, tugging open and closed doors, and activating buttons. She enjoys working out in public as much as relaxing at home. While she settles nicely, she’s always ready to jump into action—her upbeat “what are we doing today?” attitude makes her a wonderful match for someone who leads an active lifestyle and enjoys working with their dog. Sandy has a faster walking pace and would do well with a wheelchair user.
Yoshi
Yoshi is a tall, affectionate Labrador who forms a strong bond with his handler and thrives on close connection. He is always eager for outings and ready to go when his working gear comes out. Yoshi brings a joyful energy to his work—complete with an enthusiastic, full-body wag that reflects his happy spirit. He will benefit from a supportive partner who can encourage him through more difficult tasks. While friendly with everyone, Yoshi prefers to stay focused on his person rather than engaging with strangers and he would do best with a partner who appreciates this quality. With his affectionate nature and strong handler focus, Yoshi has great potential as a devoted service dog partner.
